Loft 1.0.2 to 1.0.4: Production signals shape the product

Loft is being built through its own emerging Software Plant: production signals expose friction, people decide what should change, and the product specification and implementation evolve together.

Loft is built with Loft. Its own product specification is authored and reviewed in the product, which makes Loft the first proving ground for the way of working it is designed to support.

Versions 1.0.2 to 1.0.4 show the beginning of an internal Software Plant. Signals from production exposed unnecessary work in important authoring operations. The team used that signal to refine the product while preserving the intended behavior of the specification.

Production signals are input, not authority

A production signal can show where the system is doing too much work, where an operation is fragile, or where the product needs attention. It cannot decide what the product should become.

That decision remains with people. They interpret the signal against the product's intended behavior, decide whether a change is justified, and update the specification and implementation together. Production then provides the next signal.

This creates a practical loop between product intent, delivery, and real operation. It is still an internal practice, not a customer case or a quantified performance claim. What matters at this stage is that Loft's development is beginning to follow the same model Loft is intended to support for other software products.
